The GTA 6 marketing push has reached football and chess: a 30-second ad built from the launch trailer reportedly aired during halftime of the Boca Juniors vs River Plate Superclásico in Argentina, and Chess.com has released new bots to celebrate the game's release. Both were shared by fans on the r/GTA6 subreddit over the weekend.

A halftime spot in Argentina's biggest match

According to the Reddit user who posted it, a 30-second video taken from the GTA 6 launch trailer was played at halftime of the Superclásico. That's a big placement: Boca vs River is one of the most-watched fixtures in South America, and buying airtime there shows the campaign has moved beyond social media and YouTube trailers into live TV and major sporting events.

It's not yet clear whether the spot is part of a campaign aimed specifically at Latin America, or whether similar ads will show up during other matches and in other countries. There's also no indication the clip contained new footage: it was described as footage from the existing launch trailer.

Chess.com joins in with GTA 6 bots

The second story comes from Chess.com, one of the biggest online chess platforms. Another r/GTA6 user shared screenshots of new bots that, according to the post, were released to celebrate the launch of GTA 6. Chess.com has run themed bot collaborations around characters and events before, so this fits its habit of jumping on major pop-culture moments.

The post consists only of screenshots with no further explanation, so for now we can't confirm which characters or play styles the bots are based on, or whether this is an official partnership with Rockstar Games or simply a nod from Chess.com.

What we know and what we don't

Both reports come from fan posts on Reddit, not official announcements. The Superclásico ad would have been seen live by a huge audience, so more recordings are likely to surface in the coming days. The Chess.com bots can be checked on the platform itself, but Rockstar's involvement is still unknown. We'll update this story once there's official confirmation or more details.

What it means if you're waiting for the game

With 17 days to go until the release date of November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the marketing campaign looks to be entering its final stretch. Ads during top-tier sporting events and tie-ins with platforms outside gaming are standard in the last weeks before a launch this big. If you're counting down, expect to see GTA 6 popping up in more and more places, both on and off your console.
