The Morgan revolvers bundled with the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition carry the release dates of GTA Vice City (October 29, 2002) and GTA Vice City Stories (October 31, 2006) in their serial numbers. Today, October 31, 2026, Vice City Stories turns exactly 20 years old, and fans are passing the detail around again.
An Easter egg hiding in plain sight since June
This isn't a brand-new find. The Morgan revolver was first revealed back in June as one of the Ultimate Edition bonuses, and sharp-eyed players spotted the serial numbers early on. It's back in the spotlight thanks to the GTA Wiki's "Article of the Day" series on the r/GTA6 subreddit, which picked it as entry number 59 to line up with the anniversary.
The choice of dates is clearly deliberate. GTA 6 returns to Vice City, Rockstar's take on Miami, and the two games referenced on the weapon are the ones that first took the series there: Vice City in 2002 and its prequel, Vice City Stories, in 2006.
What it means if you're waiting for the game
If you've already pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition, it's one more thing to check the moment the revolver is in your hands. For everyone else, it's a good sign of how carefully Rockstar is handling the return to Vice City: nods to older entries go beyond the setting and reach down to something as small as the number stamped on a gun.
It also fits the wider conversation about how far the game's attention to detail goes. GameSpot recently ran a piece on exactly that, and the community has spent months combing through every official screenshot and trailer for callbacks to the series.
More Easter eggs on the way?
If a special-edition weapon already hides a reference like this, it's fair to expect the full map to be packed with nods to Tommy Vercetti, Victor Vance and the rest of the Vice City crew. For now, though, nothing beyond this revolver has been confirmed, so we'll have to wait until launch to find out.
GTA 6 releases on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That's less than three weeks until we're back in Vice City, and the game is already celebrating its predecessors' birthdays.
